Two things worth mentioning

Bright Star is now out on video. Rachael saw it at Target yesterday.

I know this is sooooo tiny but it's the only picture I could find. I saw this on Martha Stewart last week and thought it was a great idea. I think using the same backdrop for all twelve pictures would be much better. I think when I have another grandchild I will do this for them. The frames are available on MS's website. As well as scrap boxes as low as $10.- each. Look for the family show or follow this link http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/family-history-in-the-making-darcys-frames-and-scrapboxes?lpgview=thumb&showComments=true#ms-global-breadcrumbs

Rain, rain go away...

Well, last week was dreary. Inside and out. The rain came...
and this is what our yard looked like after 4 hours of rain. As you can see the ditch is completely full and has flooded our yard.
From the inside looking out. No going outside to play.
But grand daddy gave her a box and it instantly made her forget about going outside. It's really very funny watching her because she can get in all by herself. She will sit in the box and make vroom vroom noises until someone pushes her. So cute!
Then on Sunday, we celebrated Rachael's 22nd birthday.
Here's a funny story. See her outfit? Well, it's totally Bama. We took her to the mall shopping Sunday afternoon and when we walked in there was a guy from the Alabama football team there signing autographs. It was like she dressed for the occasion. We had no idea that anyone was going to be there. It was really funny.

Well, we are hoping this week will be better. Friday is Maddie's birthday and she will be one year old. Did I mention she is walking? It's only a few steps but we all know what happens next...she'll take off and never stop!

Tornado Photos

Amazing photos taken of the tornado Thursday afternoon in Huntsville. I took these photos from channel 31 and 19's website.

This is my favorite. Someone commented that First Baptist should use it as their new slogan..First Baptist, where the power of God dwells. :)

Crossing the Delaware...errr pond...

It was nice having the pond frozen for awhile. But the sun came out, the ice began to melt and Nathan and Carla spent the afternoon trying to cross the pond in the row boat.

You can see that the pond is still frozen. The ice is about an inch thick.
You can see the trail behind them where they have broken the ice and made a small path.

This picture reminded me of G.W. crossing the Delaware.

Even the ducks enjoyed having a little spot of water to play in.

Winter 2

Nathan is a master of capturing still shots so I like to challenge him every now and then. This month we are seeing who can capture the best photo of winter. Here are my photos.

On another website they have a "capture this" photo display and it's very interesting. I'd love to join in but I don't want to link my family blog to a hundred other blogs. So, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing with me instead of being a part of the big group. We could see what the current challenge is and post our pictures on our blogs. Anyone interested? I think it's only once a month.

Impossible...

My sweet daughter Rachael bought me this fun puzzle for Christmas. It is my tradition to work one on New Year's Eve while the children play their new video games. I am really good at puzzles and love to work them. This puzzle was impossible! I think it was meant to be a collector's item and not really worked. This is as far as I got with it. I had to call in reinforcements and they all gave up. Thanks to Barbara, who got the face started, I was able to get half the face completed.
Thank you Rach for the puzzle and thank you to all those who helped.

Dentists and Fabrics

Yesterday I took Lydia to the dentist to have her tooth extracted. She was a real trooper.
After her appt., we met Rachael and mom for a quick drive to Fayetteville. Note to self: Dear Rhonda, you always think Sirs fabric is going to have all this great fabric and cool ribbon you see online. But the truth is...they have nothing! Save yourself a trip next time and go to Hancock's. Hancock's has better prices and a much wider selection than Sirs. And if you want that cool Japanese fabric, order it offline.
Seriously, I was surprised to find the prices at Sirs higher than Hancock's. I thought Hancock's was the most over priced store out there. Well, I was wrong! I'll save my time and gas next time.
Please share if you know of a fabulous fabric store.

Alabama Football

Congratulations go out to the Alabama football team for playing a great game the other day. We are now the National Champions!!

Maddie and I are watching the game. It had it's tense moments. We had to yell at the players.
Then I had to explain a few things to Maddie about what was happening in the game.
Looks like someone was taking our picture and we didn't know it! Now it's time to pose for a picture so we can get back to the game.
